Sheppard Pratt is hiring a Payment Poster for a Hybrid role in Towson, MD. You will enter payments and adjustments, handle denials, and ensure timely processing within our practice management system.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years of medical billing, strong Excel and payer portal experience, and a solid understanding of HIPAA. We offer a comprehensive benefits package and a supportive professional development environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 2+ years of medical billing experience.
• Ability to work at high volumes with accuracy.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of ACH, ERA platforms, online banking, and payer sites.
• Familiar with reimbursement policies including CARC/RARC and cost shares.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Experience with computerized billing systems and multiple payers.
• HIPAA and privacy laws understanding.

Responsibilities

• Enter payments, contractual adjustments, and denials accurately in the PM system.
• Apply COB rules to submit balance billing to the next payer.
• Identify trends and discrepancies to management to support financial stability.

Work Schedule: Day Shift | Work Type: Hybrid

What to expect.

• Under general supervision and in accordance with established policies, procedures, and laws the payment poster is responsible for accurate and timely entry of payments, contractual adjustments, and denials within practice management system.
• Apply general knowledge of coordination of benefit rules to accurately generate submission of balance billing to the next appropriate payer.
• Recognizes and reports trends, irregularities and discrepancies to management to maximize financial stability.

The pay range for this position is $18.95/hr minimum to $26.82/hr maximum. Pay for this position is determined on a number of factors, including but not limited to, years and level of related experience.

What we need from you.

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Must have an overall understanding of medical billing practices with a minimum of 2 years of medical billing experience required.
• Must be able to work at high volumes maintaining attention to detail and accuracy.
• Must be able to demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Robust knowledge navigating Automated Clearing House (ACH), ERA processing platforms, online banking portals, and navigation of various insurance websites.
• Knowledgeable of reimbursement policies, specifically insurance payments, claim adjustment reason codes (CARC), remittance advice remark codes (RARC), and various cost share scenarios.
• Computer skills required. Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft applications with a strong emphasis on Excel.
• Familiarity with computerized billing/document systems; ability to effectively and efficiently operate multiple payer systems; files claims, makes recommendations regarding best practice, and operates common office equipment (i.e., PC calculator, etc.).
• Strong demonstration of HIPAA and privacy laws.
