Job summary

Gusto is seeking a Payment Operations Manager to lead a team responsible for ACH, wires, RTP, and international payments, ensuring end-to-end operational health and regulatory compliance.

You will collaborate with Engineering, Product, Accounting, Risk, Legal, and CX to maintain SLAs, drive incident response, and scale payment rails across the business while mentoring analysts and building a high-performing team.

Qualifications

• At least 7+ years in payment operations, banking ops, or treasury with team leadership experience.
• Experience managing escalations, partner issues, or ticket queues.
• Knowledge of ACH/Nacha, wires, RTP; international payments a plus.
• Experience with compliance programs (SOC 1, Nacha risk, unclaimed property, audits).

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a payments ops team; set SLAs, on-call rotation, escalation paths, and reporting.
• Own day-to-day operations with banking/partner relationships; manage escalations and due diligence.
• Maintain and operate compliance programs; ensure controls and documentation are current.
• Lead incident response for payment ops; investigate and drive retro to prevent recurrences.
• Collaborate with Product and Engineering; provide operational insights and balance reliability with product goals.
• Promote and model AI usage to improve investigations, documentation, and efficiency.
