Job summary

Steinway & Sons is seeking a Pattern Shop Supervisor to lead a skilled team at our Astoria, Queens plant. You will oversee pattern-making operations, templates, jigs, and tooling used throughout piano production, ensuring precision and compliance with engineering specs.

The role requires at least five years in pattern making with two years in supervisory roles, plus experience reading CAD drawings and using CAD/CAM software. A technical degree or certificate in related field is a plus.

Qualifications

Minimum 5 years in pattern making, tooling, woodworking, or manufacturing.
At least 2 years in supervisory or team leadership roles.
Experience in musical instrument or cabinetry manufacturing preferred.
Ability to read engineering drawings and CAD models.

Responsibilities

Supervise daily pattern shop activities to meet tooling and pattern needs.
Manage fabrication, repair, modification, and maintenance of patterns and tooling.
Ensure patterns are produced to engineering drawings and specs.
Coordinate priorities with Engineering, Product Development, Wood Shop, and Production.
Train and develop Pattern Shop personnel in traditional woodworking techniques.
