Job summary

Steinway & Sons is seeking a Pattern Shop Supervisor to lead a team in our Astoria, Queens manufacturing plant. You will oversee pattern-making operations, tooling, and fixtures used in high-quality piano production, ensuring accuracy per engineering drawings and CAD models.

The role requires strong leadership, pattern-making expertise, and the ability to collaborate across Engineering, Product Development, and Wood Shop to support both standard models and bespoke instruments.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; technical training in pattern making a plus.
• Minimum 5 years in pattern making or tooling; 2+ years in supervision.
• Experience with CNC, woodworking, and precision manufacturing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise Pattern Shop daily activities and ensure timely tooling outputs.
• Oversee fabrication, repair, and maintenance of patterns, templates, and fixtures.
• Interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, and specifications.
• Coordinate priorities with Engineering, Product Development, and Wood Shop.
• Train and mentor Pattern Shop personnel in woodworking and cabinetmaking.
