Job summary

Hodgkins Public Library is expanding its Patron Services team as we wrap construction on a new building and invite community partners to engage with our services. The Patron Services Lead will deliver welcoming, accurate assistance to patrons in person and online, support programs and collections, and collaborate with staff to promote library resources during all hours of operation.

Qualifications

• One (1) year of library experience in a public, school, academic, or special library setting.
• One (1) year of customer service experience, preferably with children and/or senior citizens.
• Completion of a Library Technical Assistant (LTA) program or similar professional certificate.
• Available to work shifts during all hours of operation.

Responsibilities

• Provides friendly, courteous and accurate service to all users
• Assist library patrons in person or electronically
• Develop a collaborative relationship with all staff members
• Participate in collection management
• Ability to implement library policies and procedures
• Review library literature for professional growth
• Ability to reach, bend, stoop and lift up to 25 pounds
• Maintains orderly appearance of the Library
• Accurately operate cash drawer
• Able to assist patrons with library technology (copy machine, scanner, computers)
• Responsible for planning and/or implementing library programs for patrons aged 0 – 99+
• Attends surrounding community events as necessary to promote library services
• Prepares all patron related data for administrative and board needs
• Solicit recommendations for patron materials to add to collection
• Proficient user of relevant software and hardware to successfully complete work
• Serve as Person in Charge when needed
• Perform other work as assigned by administration

Hodgkins Public Library is growing! We are wrapping construction soon on a new building and are expanding our patron services department. The Patron Services Lead provides welcoming customer service and supports library services to all patrons. The ideal candidate is collaborative, detail orientated, committed to continuous improvement and able to establish rapport with community organizations.

Hodgkins Public Library is conveniently located near the intersection of I-55, I-294, and LaGrange Road.

Hours

40 Hour Schedule
Minimum 1 closing shift per week. Minimum 1 opening shift per week. 1 Weekend per month (closed on Sunday)
