Job summary

Knox County's Cedar Bluff Branch Library is seeking a Library Branch Assistant 2 to support daily patron services and collection maintenance. The role involves shelving, assisting patrons with catalogs and computers, processing fines, and handling daily deposits alongside opening and closing duties.

The position requires strong attention to detail, good communication, and teamwork in a busy library environment.

Qualifications

High School diploma or GED required; Associate degree preferred.
Minimum of one year related experience in a library environment, office or related field.
Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered for employment into the position.

Responsibilities

Process and shelf new periodicals and maintain order of periodical rack.
Assist patrons in using the public access catalog and locating information/materials.
Assist patrons with use of public computers, reservation system, internet access, software applications and troubleshooting.
Collect fines and/or other charges; prepare daily deposits for Library Business Administrator.
Answer phone calls and emails from public; prepare books and materials for shelving.
Read shelves to ensure accuracy and correct errors; work at the public service desk and enter new users into the database.
