Job summary

Louisville Metro Government is seeking a Library Page to assist library patrons with services and basic use of library resources. This role involves working under close supervision and handling various library tasks including circulation, reserves, and outreach.

Responsibilities include assisting with checkout, returns, fines, and technology usage, while maintaining accurate records and supporting programs and promotions.

Qualifications

• High School Graduation or GED equivalent.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must provide own reliable transportation.
• Willingness to travel to other locations as needed.
• Ability to communicate with individuals in person and via various media.
• Able to sort materials alphabetically and numerically.
• Must possess a valid state driver’s license.
• Varied work schedule; regular attendance and possible overtime.

Responsibilities

• Operate and assist with the Bookmobile and related services.
• Register new patrons and assist with reserves.
• Route materials to other libraries as requested.
• Answer phone calls and provide information; take messages.
• Schedule meetings and classes.
• Assist patrons with checkout and return of all formats (print, media, digital).
• Process returns, reserves, and shipments; handle money and reconcile daily transactions.
• Collect fines for lost materials.
• Explain library technology (copiers, public computers, digital resources) and provide basic assistance.
• Support library programs, outreach, and promotions.
• Review information in print and digital formats.
• Order supplies.
• Perform Library Page L/U duties as needed.
