Job summary

City of Sterling seeks a dedicated Police Officer to protect life and property within the community. You will respond to incidents, investigate crimes, interview victims and witnesses, and prepare clear, concise reports while upholding department policies and Colorado laws.

Under supervision, you will patrol, manage traffic, operate computers and communication devices, and work rotating shifts to ensure public safety.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • P.O.S.T Level I peace officer certification.
  • CPR/First Aid certification is required.
  • Must possess and maintain CO operator’s license for City vehicle.
  • Must be at least 21 years old and a U.S. citizen.

Responsibilities

  • Takes command at crime or accident scenes; interviews victims and witnesses; records vital information.
  • Completes police reports clearly and concisely.
  • Responds to dispatches; investigates citizen concerns and disturbances.
  • Establishes traffic surveillance and performs accident investigations.
  • Operates department computers and reporting systems; uses PPE as required.
  • Carries City-issued communications device; adheres to safety rules.
