Job summary

The Town of Firestone is seeking a Police Officer to perform patrols, investigations, accident response, and public safety duties in a fast-paced, community-focused environment.

The role reports to a Sergeant and may involve supervisory responsibilities or field training assignments. Oral boards are scheduled for the week of 10/12/2026, with pay commensurate to service and experience.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Sixty (60) semester hours at an accredited college or university preferred
• Ability to learn and demonstrate knowledge of department policy and procedures

Responsibilities

• Regularly patrols throughout the community, performs complex investigations, renders service, enforces traffic and criminal laws and generally provides for the safety of the public
• Patrols school zones and performs routine business checks
• Attends Town functions to stay connected to the community
• Performs first aid and lifesaving aid within the scope of training
• Responds to calls regarding public disturbances, complaints, criminal, civil or emergency situations
• Enforces traffic laws, vehicle codes and promotes traffic safety
• Detects and prevents criminal activities by surveillance and reporting
• Maintains safety equipment and patrol units
• Communicates effectively with fellow officers and other agencies
• Completes written reports and testimony in court when required
• Possible assignments to Field Training Officer, School Resource Officer, S.W.A.T., K9 or instructor roles
