Job summary

City of Cortez, Colorado is seeking a Patrol Officer to maintain public safety by enforcing laws and ordinances and responding to community needs. You will document incidents clearly and communicate effectively with the public and partner agencies.

You will patrol, handle back-to-back calls, de-escalate when possible, and ensure neighbor and property safety. Salary shown reflects hourly range for Cortez, CO. Salary: $25.00 - $28.94 per hour.

Qualifications

• Certified Colorado Police Officer with valid Colorado driver’s license.
• First Aid/CPR certified; proficient with firearms.
• Certified in Intoxilizer, Radar, Nystagmus, pepper spray, and PPCT.
• Strong oral and written communication; able to work under stress and shift schedules.
• Good physical condition; no felony convictions.
• Two-year degree (criminal justice/related) or HS/equivalent plus training sufficient for certification.

• Conduct investigations, prepare accurate reports, and provide court testimony as needed
• Use approved equipment and tactics safely, including firearms and defensive tools

Required Qualifications/skills

Salary: $25.00 - $28.94 per hour
