State of Colorado seeks a Correctional Officer I at Sterling Correctional Facility to maintain safety and security across a 24/7 operation. You will support inmates and staff, monitor access, operate security systems, and assist in counts and transports.

A High School Diploma or GED is required and bilingual skills are a plus. The role involves working in a locked facility, responding to emergencies, and maintaining professional communication with inmates and the public.

Qualifications

• Preferred bilingual ability is a plus.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to cooperate with staff and inmates.

Responsibilities

• Work directly with inmates in a locked facility.
• Monitor and control access to the facility and restricted areas.
• Operate doors, security devices and alarms to maintain safety.
• Escort and transport inmates in state vehicles.
• Conduct counts, searches and incident reporting.
• Communicate with inmates, families, coworkers and the public.
