Job summary

Northwestern Medicine Catherine Gratz Griffin Lake Forest Hospital is seeking a Patient Transporter to move patients safely across care areas. This casual (non-benefited) role has no guaranteed hours.

You will verify patient identity, use appropriate transport equipment, disinfect between transports and coordinate with nursing staff to ensure timely movement while maintaining infection control standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• BLS through American Heart Association (or within 90 days of employment).
• At least 1 year experience with patient transport handling (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Transport patients as assigned.
• Verify patient identity using two identifiers.
• Prepare transport equipment for safety and comfort.
• Disinfect/wipe down equipment between transports.
• Assist patients onto transport equipment and coordinate with staff as needed.
• Notify nursing/ancillary staff on arrival or departure of patients.
• Handle patient documents related to transport (e.g., ticket to ride).
• Report any unusual patient symptoms during transport.
• Move and care for transport equipment as required.
• Follow infection control precautions and proper PPE use.
