Job summary

Via Christi Hospital, St. Francis in Wichita, KS is seeking a dedicated Patient Transporter to join Ascension's Patient Transportation team.

This full-time, day-shift role runs 8:00am–5:00pm with rotating weekends, delivering safe, compassionate patient transport and equipment delivery throughout the facility. As an Ascension associate, you’ll benefit from tuition discounts through our academic partnership with Wichita State University and opportunities for ongoing professional development

Qualifications

• Must have BLS certification within 30 days of hire (American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted).
• High school diploma equivalency or 1 year of applicable experience required.
• Professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Safely transport patients throughout the facility using wheelchairs, stretchers, or beds.
• Assist patients with safe transfers, including entering/exiting vehicles and moving between mobility devices.
• Efficiently deliver equipment and specimens to requesting staff and departments.
• Provide compassionate assistance to clinical staff with removal and transport of deceased bodies to the morgue.
• Greet, direct, and provide information to patients and visitors.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Safely transport patientsâincluding those requiring oxygen tanks, IV pumps, and other equipmentâthroughout the facility using wheelchairs, stretchers, or beds.
• Assist patients with safe transfers, including entering/exiting vehicles and moving between mobility devices.
• Efficiently deliver equipment and specimens to requesting staff and departments.
• Provide compassionate assistance to clinical staff with the removal and transport of deceased bodies to the morgue.
• Act as a welcoming point of contact by greeting, directing, and providing information to patients and visitors.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Education

• High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
• Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.
