Job summary

Houston Methodist is seeking a Transporter to move acute and critical care patients by wheelchair, stretcher or bed, supporting the interprofessional team in delivering high-quality care during transit.

The role involves transporting inpatients and outpatients to diagnostics, clinics and admissions while helping prevent patient falls and ensuring safe handling of equipment and supplies. Strong communication with staff and patients is essential.

Qualifications

• One year of customer service, patient transportation or nursing aid experience preferred.
• BLS - Basic Life Support or Instructor (AHA) within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate patient transport with nursing, imaging and other departments to move patients for tests, treatments and procedures.
• Communicate clearly with patients, physicians and staff while maintaining HIPAA compliance.
• Assist with patient handling and equipment setup, ensuring safety during transfers.
• Maintain transport equipment and supplies, report issues, and support department workflow.
