Job summary

Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD is seeking a PRN Transportation/Sitter to support patient care. Responsibilities include safe transport of patients and equipment, and providing attentive 1:1 observation under nursing supervision.

Qualifications

• High School or GED required.
• 1–3 months related experience and/or training preferred.
• Must have adequate visual acuity to perform duties.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and assist patient for transportation with clinical staff.
• Pick up and deliver patient equipment and supplies; include patient-related equipment for repair or routine maintenance checks.
• Identify broken or damaged equipment and report per procedure.
• Transport specimens, cultures and blood samples from patient care areas (STAT and routine).
• Provide 1:1 observation and patient care duties as assigned and document care provided.
• Follow safety practices and address patient, visitor and staff safety concerns.
