Job Summary & Requirements

The Patient Support Assistant supports patient flow by greeting and assisting patients and addressing unit needs. The role requires professionalism, critical thinking, and sensitivity.

Education: Completion of high school diploma or equivalent.

Experience: Minimum 1 year in customer service, with experience in front-facing roles and public interaction considered an asset.

Skills & Attributes: Positive attitude, team player, excellent interpersonal skills, problem-solving abilities, ability to prioritize, confidentiality, flexibility including weekends and nights, adherence to health and safety policies, physical ability to move equipment and assist patients.

Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality service to patients, visitors, staff, and physicians.
  • Perform AIDET communication with patients and visitors.
  • Maintain professionalism and respect in all communications.
  • Follow RVH Code of Conduct and Privacy Pledge.
  • Adhere to infection prevention, PPE use, and safe equipment practices.
  • Assist in safe patient transportation, including movement of patients with equipment.
  • Provide wayfinding and information to visitors.
  • Respond promptly to assistance calls for patient transport.
  • Verify patient identifiers before transportation.
  • Collaborate with team members across departments.
