Job summary

Lifepoint Health is seeking a Patient Sitter in Hickory, NC, to support patient observation and care planning in collaboration with RNs and the patient care team.

The role emphasizes maintaining safety, appropriate supervision for behavioral health patients, and completing duties under RN supervision. This is an on-site position within Lifepoint Health facilities.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.
• Basic Life Support certification is required within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• A Patient Sitter provides direct patient observation and input in planning care through communication with the RN and other patient care team members.
• Effectively involved with maintaining the standard of care for assigned patients through communication with the care team.
• Maintains competency and possesses the skills to provide a safe environment to those medical patients requiring close supervision because of behavioral health issues.
• Completes duties as assigned and performs duties under the direct supervision of the RN.

• The Emergency Department at Frye Regional offers:
• Board-certified emergency medicine physicians, 32 patient rooms and 3 nurses' stations
• Behavioral health treatment and referral, including suicide threat and alcohol detox
• High quality standards for treatment of chest pain and stroke
• Sexual assault nurse examiners specially trained to provide compassionate care and collect forensic evidence
• Treatment of major and minor injuries and illnesses
• A helipad for patients with the most serious medical conditions to be airlifted directly to and from Frye Regional's Emergency Department
