Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred. (May be required based on state and laboratory guidelines.)
• Phlebotomist Certification is preferred. (Required in Louisiana).

Responsibilities

• Greets customers appropriately. Treat all customers in a courteous manner.
• Ensures all field phlebotomy and PSC specimens are collected accurately and on time.
• Collects specimens according to established procedures; explains venipuncture clearly to reduce patient anxiety.
• Disposes of blood or other biohazard fluids or tissue per laws and policies.
• Completes requisitions accurately in PathConnect and/or other PathGroup applications.
• Enters patient, specimen, insurance, or billing information with attention to detail.
• Matches laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes; labels, centrifuges, and freezes specimens as needed.
• Packages specimens for transport and stores samples at required temperatures.
• Maintains daily records/logs and compiles monthly statistics.
• Performs basic clerical duties and electronic data entry.
• Uses PPE and adheres to lab safety and privacy policies.
