Job summary

UF Health is seeking an organized front-desk/registration specialist to support a busy outpatient department. The role involves scheduling appointments, interviewing patients for demographic and financial information, and registering patients for billing and insurance purposes.

The ideal candidate has a High School Diploma or GED and at least one year of experience with third-party payors; healthcare experience and knowledge of ICD-9/CPT coding are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required (or equivalent).
• 1 year of experience with third-party payors preferred.
• Up to 4 years of clerical/customer service experience in healthcare preferred.
• Knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT coding preferred; medical terminology course helpful.

Responsibilities

• Schedule patient appointments.
• Interview patients to collect demographic and financial information.
• Register patients and complete registration functions.
• Obtain signatures and documentation for billing and insurance purposes.
• Order laboratory tests and other tests via the computer system per physician guidance.
• Perform end-of-day disposition and gather relevant statistics.
• Greet patients and act as liaison between patients, nurses, physicians, and others.
