Job summary

Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center is seeking a Part-Time Patient Services Representative for the Overlake location in Bellevue, WA. The role is a regular per-diem onsite position with Monday–Friday shifts, focused on patient check-in, front-desk service and coordination of patient flow.

The successful candidate will greet patients, verify information, handle paperwork, and triage inquiries while delivering patient- and family-centered service in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Six months to one year experience in customer service environment.
• Ability to work in a fast paced, complex healthcare environment.
• Effectively organize and manage time and tasks independently.
• Ability to communicate (verbally and in writing) in a clear and concise manner.
• Can use a mouse, navigate computer programs and use email in a professional setting.
• Preferred: Medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Greets and screens patients arriving for appointments and checks them in using an automated scheduling system.
• Assembles and distributes appropriate paperwork to patients, families, caregivers and clinical staff.
• Triage questions and concerns from callers and forward to appropriate staff or department as needed.
• Performs general clerical duties including processing mail, taking inventory and ordering office supplies.
• Activates provider orders (Alliance Lab only).
• May schedule patient appointments as ordered by clinician. May be responsible for the facilitation of patient flow.
• Verifies demographic, clinical and financial information with patient as required.
