Job summary

UPMC is hiring a full-time Patient Services Representative to support the South Hanover Primary Care team. This role involves greeting patients, guiding check-in, collecting copayments, updating registrations, and scheduling follow-up appointments.

The position requires strong customer service, basic typing and computer skills, and familiarity with Epic or Medipac systems. Prior healthcare experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience in a medical, billing, fiscal or customer service function preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• Prior healthcare/medical office experience highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide a warm greeting for all patients.
• Guide patient through self-check-in or desk check-in.
• Collect copayments and other payments at the point of service.
• Verify and update patient registration info and schedule follow-up appointments.
• Follow up on unresolved questions to ensure continuity of care.
• Support the use of patient portals and assist with registration when applicable.
• Verify insurance benefits with carriers via online or phone methods.
• Obtain signatures for consent to treatment and financial responsibility per HIPAA rules.
