Job summary

UPMC Department of Urology in Washington, PA is hiring a full-time Patient Services Representative for a brand-new office with day shifts (7:00–3:30, 7:30–4:00, or 8:00–4:30). There are no weekend or evening hours.

You will greet patients, collect copayments, verify insurance, assist with registration and scheduling, promote the MyUPMC portal, and connect patients to financial resources while delivering the high level of service UPMC is known for.

Qualifications

• Two years of medical billing or customer service experience preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to explain copayments and financial obligations clearly.
• Experience with patient registration and scheduling is preferred.
• Knowledge of HIPAA rules and hospital processes is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients warmly upon arrival.
• Assist with self-arrival tech or desk check-in as appropriate.
• Collect copayments and payments at point of service.
• Confirm and update patient registration at checkout.
• Schedule follow-up appointments and ancillary services.
• Direct calls and triage to appropriate areas.
• Promote MyUPMC portal and assist patient registration.
• Verify insurance benefits with carriers when needed.
• Document and scan records and perform admin duties.
• Support service excellence and HIPAA compliance.
