Job summary

Qualifications

• Experience assisting patients with check-in and scheduling.
• Ability to clearly explain financial obligations to patients.
• Familiarity with HIPAA regulations is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide a warm greeting for all patients.
• Guide patients through self-arrival technology or assist at desk.
• Collect copayments and other patient payments at the point of service.
• Confirm and update patient registration information at checkout.
• Schedule follow-up appointments at checkout.
• Assist patients with navigation to ancillary services at checkout.
• Explain insurance benefits and verify coverage with carriers.
• Triage calls and direct to appropriate areas.
• Assist with scanning medical records and faxing.
• Promote and explain the UPMC Patient Portal navigation.
