Patient Service Representative - Occupational Health – Chester

The Medical Assistant is a multi-skilled clinical professional who assists in patient care under the provider's direction. The Medical Assistant provides information, services, and assistance to support physicians and other providers.

Essential Job Functions:

1. Contribute to the completion of the patient’s chief complaint and document patient needs under the provider's guidance.
2. Identify problems in patient condition through data collection and report them to the provider, adhering to legal responsibilities.
3. Participate in planning and implementing patient care within scope, troubleshoot issues, and escalate problems as needed.
4. Float to various urgent care centers as determined by leadership, assisting during high-volume periods or new center openings.
5. Maintain clinical and administrative skills, collect specimens, run point-of-care tests, and travel to other facilities as required.
6. Maintain a safe environment by keeping work areas and equipment clean, orderly, and safe.
7. Administer medications and vaccines within scope and guidelines, collect specimens, and run tests.
8. Accurately document in EMR, manage My Chart requests, and handle patient calls and messages.
9. Perform other duties such as ordering supplies, scheduling, registration, and scribing as needed.

This position involves support at the Front Desk and Medical Assisting roles. Employees may be asked to perform other duties as assigned.

Employment Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED (required)
• Vocational/Technical Degree preferred
• Specialty/Major in Medical Assisting

Licensing/Certification:

• Active Medical Assisting certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA, NCRMA, NCMA, or NCCT) required.
• If unable to obtain certification, Assessment-Based Recognition in Order Entry (ABR-OE) is acceptable.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days of hire.

Minimum Qualifications:

• One year of Medical Assisting experience preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, office equipment, and strong communication skills.

Education:

High School/GED required; post-secondary Medical Assistant education preferred.

Work Experience:

Externship or clinical training preferred; recent Medical Assisting experience preferred.
