Job summary

Sutter Health in Vallejo, CA is seeking a front desk/Patient Access associate to welcome patients, verify information, schedule visits, and maintain accurate EHR entries. The role requires basic insurance knowledge and strong customer service skills, with multi-location coverage and privacy compliance.

The position offers a full-time schedule with an 8-hour varied shift, typically 7am–5:30pm on weekdays and occasional weekends, and requires the ability to travel between SEBMF locations as needed.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or equivalent education/experience.
• 1 year of recent relevant experience.
• Basic knowledge of insurance policies and procedures, as well as patient billing.
• Ability to interpret a variety of data and instructions, furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Responsibilities

• Greet and check-in patients at arrival.
• Verify patient information and verify insurance as needed.
• Schedule appointments and update the EHR system.
• Facilitate intake procedures and collect payments for services.
• Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality per PHI regulations.
• Coordinate with team and other staff as needed across locations.

Position Overview

Serves as the first point of contact for patients entering the medical facility. This job is intended for use by positions employed by an outpatient facility. Greets and checks-in patients, verifies information, schedules appointments, and updates Electronic Health record (EHR). Facilitates intake procedures such as completion of healthcare and insurance forms and collecting payments for services. Gains confidence and cooperation from the patient, their family/support group, and other healthcare providers through competent job performance and effective communication. Adheres to all organizational, local/state/federal regulations, codes, policies and procedures to ensure privacy and safety while delivering optimal patient care. May also be responsible for performing specific tasks and/or orient other staff to the department.

** Schedule: 8-hour varied shift, Monday- Friday ranging from 7am - 5:30pm, weekends as needed **

** Location: Primary location is Vallejo, CA. Travel and coverage are required across all SEBMF locations based on business needs, including Orinda, Albany, Castro Valley, Oakland, Berkeley, Richmond, Lafayette, Antioch, Solano, and Brentwood. **

Education

Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma.
