Job summary

Midwest Vision Partners is seeking a Front Desk/Receptionist to create a welcoming patient experience from arrival to departure. You will check in patients, verify insurance details, collect payments, schedule appointments, and ensure accurate medical records are maintained.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED and strong communication skills. Entry-level applicants are welcome, with preferred experience in high-volume calls.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and check in patients in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner.
  • Accurately enter, update, and verify patient demographics and insurance information using multiple medical computer programs.
  • Complete patient registration by reviewing accounts and documents for completeness and accuracy, obtaining missing information.
  • Prepare paperwork and documentation for patient visits.
  • Verify patient benefits and eligibility as needed.
  • Collect copayments, deductibles, coinsurance, and other fees.
  • Respond to questions about accounts, payment arrangements, and disputes.
  • Monitor patient flow and communicate changes to clinical staff.
  • Reconcile cash against daily charge and cash reports.
  • Schedule and confirm appointments.
  • Create, distribute, and file new patient charts and medical records.
  • Perform clerical tasks such as copying, sorting, scanning, and faxing.
  • Ensure accurate patient checkout and updates to medical records.

Job description

The Front Desk/Receptionist is responsible for creating a welcoming experience for patients from arrival through departure. This role includes greeting and checking in patients, updating and verifying patient and insurance information, processing payments, registering patients in the billing system, scheduling appointments, and maintaining clear communication between patients, providers, and clinical staff. The Front Desk/Receptionist also provides general administrative support and assistance as needed.

Schedule:

  • 7:15 AM–4:15 PM
  • 7:45 AM–4:45 PM
  • 8:15 AM–5:30 PM
  • 9:00 AM–6:00 PM on some Tuesdays when covering vacations in Grand Blanc
What You Will Be Doing
  • Greet and check in patients in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner.
  • Accurately enter, update, and verify patient demographics and insurance information using multiple medical computer programs.
  • Complete the patient registration process by reviewing accounts and compliance-related documents for completeness and accuracy. Obtain and document any missing information required for registration.
  • Prepare paperwork and documentation for patient visits.
  • Verify patient benefits and eligibility as needed.
  • Collect copayments, deductibles, coinsurance, past-due balances, and other applicable fees.
  • Respond to questions regarding account status, payment arrangements, and concerns. Resolve billing or charge disputes or forward issues to the appropriate individual for resolution.
  • Monitor patient flow, adjust workflows as needed, and communicate pertinent information or changes to clinical staff.
  • Act as a liaison between patients, guests, back-office staff, and providers.
  • Reconcile cash against daily charge and cash reports.
  • Schedule and confirm patient appointments as needed.
  • Create, distribute, and file new patient charts and medical records.
  • Perform clerical tasks such as copying, sorting, scanning, and faxing.
  • Properly check out patients, including collecting applicable payments and fees, ensuring completion of required forms, and updating medical records as needed.
  • Keep the front desk and waiting room clean, organized, and stocked with necessary supplies.
  • Comply with all organizational policies and procedures, including standard operating procedures and the employee handbook.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
What You Know
