Job summary

VIP Medical Group is seeking a Medical Assistant to support our Long Beach, CA location. The role includes greeting patients, triaging visits, assisting providers, maintaining sterile rooms, and handling charting and clerical tasks.

The ideal candidate has at least one year of MA experience, is bilingual in English and Spanish, and is familiar with EMR systems and vital signs. Competitive compensation with benefits is offered.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• Certified Medical Assistant preferred.
• Minimum of one year of experience as a Medical Assistant.
• Fully bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
• EMR systems experience preferred.
• Vital signs experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet registered patients upon their visit and triage them through the patient flow for a smooth experience.
• Monitor and ensure proper functioning of clinical equipment; escalate issues to supervisor.
• Check schedules and accompany patients to exam/procedure rooms; assist with walking, transfers, dressing and prep.
• Maintain sterile environment; adhere to infection control precautions.
• Prepare exam rooms, clean rooms and instruments, restock supplies between patients.
• Input patient data into the practice management system and update patient history.
• Handle clerical duties: sending/receiving/scanning medical records and managing charting.
• Check dated materials and medications; discard expired items.
• Answer phones, respond to inquiries, and triage calls to appropriate personnel.
• Demonstrate customer service mindset.

Key Responsibilities:

• Greet registered patients upon their visit, triage patients through the patient flow process, and ensure a smooth experience.
• Monitor and ensure the proper functioning of clinical equipment, promptly escalating issues to the supervisor.
• Check schedules and accompany patients to the exam/procedure room. Assist patients with walking, transfers, dressing, and exam preparation.
• Maintain a sterile environment, ensuring adherence to standard infection control precautions.
• Prepare exam rooms before patient visits, clean rooms and instruments, and restock supplies between patients.
• Fulfill patient care responsibilities, including taking vital signs, updating patient history, and assisting providers in the exam room. Input patient data into the practice management system.
• Fulfill clerical responsibilities, such as sending/receiving/scanning medical records, obtaining diagnostic reports and managing the charting process.
• Regularly check dated materials and medications for expiration dates and discard expired items.
• Answer phones, respond to inquiries, and triage calls to appropriate personnel.
• Customer service-oriented mindset.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED.
• Certification: Certified Medical Assistant preferred.
• Minimum of one year of experience as a Medical Assistant.
• EMR systems (1 year preferred), vital signs (1 year preferred)
• Fully bilingual - English and Spanish preferred.
