Job summary

VIP Medical Group in Clifton, New Jersey, is seeking a Lead Medical Assistant to support our pain and vein treatment teams across Northen New Jersey locations. The role combines patient care with leadership and administrative duties.

You will take vital signs, assist providers, manage schedules and records in the EMR, train staff, and ensure sterile exam rooms. English/Spanish bilingual skills and CMA certification are preferred; HS diploma required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Certified Medical Assistant preferred.
• At least 1 year of Medical Assistant experience.
• Experience with EMR systems is preferred.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a fast-paced clinical setting.

This position will be assisting our Northen New Jersey locations.

Key Responsibilities

• Functioning as a strong, experienced Medical Assistant providing direct patient care (the clinical focus will cover both pain and vein, though clinical/administrative tasks are predominantly pain-related).
• Handling additional leadership and administrative duties, including staff training, inventory management, assisting with compliance upkeep, and leading team meetings.
• Providing coverage and operational support across locations as needed.
• Triage patients through the patient flow process, and ensure a smooth experience.
• Monitor and ensure the proper functioning of clinical equipment, promptly escalating issues to the supervisor.
• Check schedules and accompany patients to the exam/procedure room. Assist patients with walking, transfers, dressing, and exam preparation.
• Maintain a sterile environment, ensuring adherence to standard infection control precautions.
• Prepare exam rooms before patient visits, clean rooms and instruments, and restock supplies between patients.
• Fulfill patient care responsibilities, including taking vital signs, updating patient history, and assisting providers in the exam room. Input patient data into the practice management system.
• Fulfill clerical responsibilities, such as sending/receiving/scanning medical records, obtaining diagnostic reports and managing the charting process.
• Regularly check dated materials and medications for expiration dates and discard expired items.
• Customer service-oriented mindset.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED.
• Certification: Certified Medical Assistant preferred.
• Minimum of one year of experience as a Medical Assistant..
• EMR systems (1 year preferred), vital signs (1 year preferred)
• Fully bilingual - English and Spanish preferred.
