Job summary

VIP Medical Group in West Orange, NJ is seeking a Lead Medical Assistant to provide direct patient care and lead administrative duties across Northen New Jersey locations. The role emphasizes pain and vein care with a focus on teamwork and patient experience.

The ideal candidate has CMA certification (preferred), at least 1 year of MA experience, EMR familiarity, and bilingual English/Spanish abilities. Competitive benefits and schedule of 9-hour shifts are offered.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Certified Medical Assistant preferred.
  • Minimum of one year of experience as a Medical Assistant.
  • EMR systems experience (1 year preferred).
  • Bilingual English and Spanish preferred.
  • Schedule: 9-hour shifts (8:45am–7:00pm).

Responsibilities

  • Direct patient care for both pain and vein patients; mainly pain-related administrative tasks.
  • Lead and train staff; manage inventory; assist with compliance and run team meetings.
  • Provide cross-location coverage and operational support as needed.
  • Triage patients through flow to ensure a smooth experience.
  • Monitor clinical equipment and escalate issues to supervisor.
  • Escort patients to exam/procedure rooms and assist with transfers and prep.
  • Maintain sterile environment and infection control precautions.
  • Prepare exam rooms, clean rooms/instruments, restock supplies.
  • Input patient data into the practice management system and manage medical records.
  • Handle clerical duties: sending/receiving/scanning records and obtaining diagnostic reports.
  • Check expiration dates on materials/medications and discard expired items.
  • Demonstrate strong customer service mindset.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Functioning as a strong, experienced Medical Assistant providing direct patient care (the clinical focus will cover both pain and vein, though clinical/administrative tasks are predominantly pain-related).
  • Handling additional leadership and administrative duties, including staff training, inventory management, assisting with compliance upkeep, and leading team meetings.
  • Providing coverage and operational support across locations as needed.
  • Triage patients through the patient flow process, and ensure a smooth experience.
  • Monitor and ensure the proper functioning of clinical equipment, promptly escalating issues to the supervisor.
  • Check schedules and accompany patients to the exam/procedure room. Assist patients with walking, transfers, dressing, and exam preparation.
  • Maintain a sterile environment, ensuring adherence to standard infection control precautions.
  • Prepare exam rooms before patient visits, clean rooms and instruments, and restock supplies between patients.
  • Fulfill patient care responsibilities, including taking vital signs, updating patient history, and assisting providers in the exam room. Input patient data into the practice management system.
  • Fulfill clerical responsibilities, such as sending/receiving/scanning medical records, obtaining diagnostic reports and managing the charting process.
  • Regularly check dated materials and medications for expiration dates and discard expired items.
  • Customer service-oriented mindset.
