Job summary

VIP Medical Group in Clifton, NJ is seeking a Lead Medical Assistant to support our pain and vein treatment teams. The role includes direct patient care, clinical leadership, inventory management, and cross-location coverage within Northern New Jersey.

The ideal candidate will have a High School diploma or GED, be a Certified Medical Assistant (preferred), and possess at least 1 year of MA experience with EMR systems and vital signs.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Certified Medical Assistant preferred.
• Minimum of one year of Medical Assistant experience.
• Fully bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
• Experience with EMR systems and vital signs is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care as a Medical Assistant for pain and vein procedures.
• Lead staff training, manage inventory, and assist with compliance and meetings.
• Provide coverage and operational support across locations as needed.
• Triage patients and ensure smooth patient flow throughout visits.
• Monitor clinical equipment and escalate issues to the supervisor.
• Assist patients to exam/procedure rooms and aid with transfers and prep.
• Maintain a sterile environment and adhere to infection control precautions.
• Prepare exam rooms, clean rooms and instruments, restock supplies.
• Input patient data into the practice management system and update records.
• Assist with charting and medical records management.

This position will be assisting our Northen New Jersey locations.

Key Responsibilities

• Functioning as a strong, experienced Medical Assistant providing direct patient care (the clinical focus will cover both pain and vein, though clinical/administrative tasks are predominantly pain-related).
• Handling additional leadership and administrative duties, including staff training, inventory management, assisting with compliance upkeep, and leading team meetings.
• Providing coverage and operational support across locations as needed.
• Triage patients through the patient flow process, and ensure a smooth experience.
• Monitor and ensure the proper functioning of clinical equipment, promptly escalating issues to the supervisor.
• Check schedules and accompany patients to the exam/procedure room. Assist patients with walking, transfers, dressing, and exam preparation.
• Maintain a sterile environment, ensuring adherence to standard infection control precautions.
• Prepare exam rooms before patient visits, clean rooms and instruments, and restock supplies between patients.
• Fulfill patient care responsibilities, including taking vital signs, updating patient history, and assisting providers in the exam room. Input patient data into the practice management system.
• Fulfill clerical responsibilities, such as sending/receiving/scanning medical records, obtaining diagnostic reports and managing the charting process.
• Regularly check dated materials and medications for expiration dates and discard expired items.
• Customer service-oriented mindset.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED.
• Certification: Certified Medical Assistant preferred.
• Minimum of one year of experience as a Medical Assistant..
• EMR systems (1 year preferred), vital signs (1 year preferred)
• Fully bilingual - English and Spanish preferred.
