Job summary

Carilion Clinic in Roanoke, VA is seeking a Patient Services Food Services Associate II to supervise daily department activities, ensuring quality nutrition and service in a fast-paced setting. You will support facility goals, coordinate open communication, and assist with staffing and staff development.

The role requires 1–3 years of related food service experience, High School diploma or GED, and SERV-SAFE or Virginia certification (or ability to obtain within a year).

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED or two years related experience.
• 1–3 years related nutritional or retail food service experience; supervisory experience desirable.
• SERV-SAFE or Virginia Health Department certification required, or ability to obtain within year.
• Effective interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills; keyboarding or computer skills preferred.

Responsibilities

• Schedules and adjusts staffing as appropriate.
• Maintains standards of performance, food quality and sanitation.
• Follows policies and procedures of Food and Nutrition Services.
• Completes general food service tasks as assigned.
• Participates in department activities and meetings; may orient coworkers and support patient satisfaction initiatives.
• Reviews and verifies documentation daily.
• Orders and/or monitors food and supplies.
• Participates in hiring process, staff development and feedback.
• Administers menus and patient food item requests using automated systems, including EMR.

How You’ll Help Transform Healthcare

Sign on Bonus Eligible: $2,000 per applicable guidelines (external hires only)

Leads the daily activities of the department to assure quality food and nutrition services. Assumes responsibilities assigned by the manager. Facilitates effective open two-way communication and resolution of work site operational issues that support facility/service line goals and objectives.

• Schedules and adjusts staffing as appropriate.
• Maintains standards of performance, food quality and sanitation.
• Follows and ensures compliance to Food and Nutrition Services policies and procedures.
• Completes all general food service tasks as assigned.
• Participates in department activities/meetings, which may include orientation of co-workers, patient/customer satisfaction initiatives, cost reduction initiatives and inspection readiness.
• Reviews and verifies all documentation daily.
• Orders and/or monitors food and supplies.
• Participates in hiring process, staff development and feedback.
• Administers and documents menus and requests for patient food items utilizing automated computer systems, including electronic medical records.

What We Require

Education

High School diploma/GED or two years of related experience.

Experience

1 to 3 years related nutritional or retail food service experience. Supervisory experience highly desirable.

Licensure, certification, and/or registration

SERV-Safe Certification or equivalent certification from the Virginia Health Department is required; or ability to obtain certification within year one in this position.

Other Minimum Qualifications

Effective interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills required. Keyboarding or computer skills for automated computer systems, including electronic medical records preferred. This position is deemed emergency personnel during emergency weather conditions. Must provide own transportation and travel to other Carilion work sites. May be required to work at other Carilion facilities to meet staffing needs.

Compensation Range

$17.39 - $24.35
