Position Overview
Full‑time, variable hours. Location: 1906 Belleview Ave SE – Roanoke, VA. The Food Services Associate II leads daily department activities to deliver high‑quality food and nutrition services. The role requires coordination with managers and staff, scheduling, compliance with food safety policies, and participation in departmental initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Lead daily activities of the department to assure quality food and nutrition services.
- Assume responsibilities assigned by the manager and facilitate effective two‑way communication to resolve work‑site operational issues.
- Schedule and adjust staffing as appropriate to meet facility/service line goals.
- Maintain performance standards, food quality and sanitation, ensuring compliance with Food and Nutrition Services policies.
- Complete all general food service tasks as assigned.
- Participate in department activities and meetings, including orientation of co‑workers, patient/customer satisfaction initiatives, cost reduction initiatives, and inspection readiness.
- Review and verify all documentation daily; order and/or monitor food and supplies.
- Participate in the hiring process, staff development, and feedback.
- Administer and document menus and requests for patient food items using automated computer systems, including electronic medical records.
Qualifications
- High School diploma/GED or two years of related experience.
- 1 to 3 years of related nutritional or retail food service experience.
- Supervisory experience highly desirable.
- Required: SERV‑Safe certification or equivalent Virginia Health Department certification; ability to obtain certification within the first year of employment.
- Effective interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Keyboarding or computer skills for automated computer systems, including electronic medical records preferred.
- Position is deemed emergency personnel during emergency weather conditions and may require travel to other Carilion work sites.
Compensation
$17.39 – $24.35 per hour, based on qualifications, credentials, education, and prior work experience. Does not include benefits or pension plan.
