Job description

Overview

Rocky Mountain Cancer Centers, Colorado's largest and most comprehensive provider of cancer care, has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Patient Service Coordinator in Lakewood.

We believe that caring for cancer patients is more than just a job—it's a calling. Each team member's story is unique, but all share themes of care, compassion, and commitment.

The goal across all roles at RMCC is to provide the best possible care for our patients. Whether we're nurses supporting patients directly or schedulers coordinating appointments, we are deeply connected to our patients and committed to helping them.

Salary Range: $18.29-$24.00 per hour

Pay is based on factors such as education, experience, and certifications. In addition to salary, RMCC offers benefits including health, dental, and vision plans; wellness programs; health savings accounts; flexible spending accounts; 401(k); life and disability insurance; PTO; holiday pay; tuition reimbursement; and employee-paid critical illness and accident insurance, subject to eligibility.

Responsibilities
  1. Schedule new patient and follow-up appointments.
  2. Obtain and document all authorization and correspondence related to referrals in patient charts and the computer system.
  3. Ensure accurate collection and entry of insurance, demographic, and eligibility information.
  4. Verify insurance coverage with third-party payers.
  5. Secure pre-authorizations for services and surgeries.
  6. Perform financial counseling with patients prior to treatment as directed by the supervisor.
Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent required. Minimum of 3 years of office experience, preferably in a medical setting. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency with computer systems, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel, is preferred.

All candidates must pass a background check and a non-federal drug test (excluding marijuana) after the offer and before employment.

Physical Demands

This role requires sitting for extended periods, occasional stooping, bending, and stretching to handle files and supplies. Employees must be present during scheduled hours, capable of sitting or standing, and communicating effectively. Manual dexterity and good eye-hand coordination are necessary for computer work. Occasionally, lifting up to 30 pounds may be required. Corrected vision and hearing are necessary for phone and computer tasks.

Work Environment

The environment may involve exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, radiation, and medical preparations typical of an oncology/hematology clinic. The role involves in-person interactions with staff and patients and may require minimal travel to different office sites.

This posting remains open until a suitable candidate pool is identified. Early applications are encouraged.
