Job summary

Responsibilities include registration, scheduling, handling messages, and updating the electronic medical record. Prior health care clerical experience is preferred, with a high school diploma required.

Qualifications

• 2 years of data entry experience preferred.
• 1 year clerical/customer service experience, ideally in a health care related industry.
• Experience with third party payors and computer data input for patient demographics is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain all clerical aspects of medical records per guidelines.
• Conduct accurate registration interviews with direct data entry for full registration of new patients and up-to-date info for established patients across providers.
• Manage patient scheduling and set appointments per guidelines.
• Receive and direct messages (electronic, in-person, telephone) to appropriate staff and coordinate with other departments and physicians when needed.
• Record patient dispositions, diagnostic codes, orders, charges and payments in the electronic medical record.
• Performs cashiering functions related to co-payments or patient payments/collections; may handle routine clerical duties.
• Provide excellent customer service to patients, families, and treatment team members.
• Participate as an active care team member in coordinating patient care.
