Job summary

TEKsystems, Inc. seeks a Patient Services Coordinator for a busy Columbia, MD medical practice. The role is contract-to-hire with a daytime schedule, onsite in a medical office.

Responsibilities include front desk duties, patient registration, scheduling, and insurance verification to ensure smooth operations and a positive patient experience. Ideal candidates have 1–2 years of medical office experience, EMR/EHR familiarity (EPIC preferred), strong customer service, and the ability to multitask

Responsibilities

  • Register new and returning patients accurately within the EMR system.
  • Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments.
  • Verify demographic and insurance information.
  • Maintain accurate patient records.
  • Greet and check patients in and out for appointments.
  • Answer incoming phone calls and assist with patient inquiries.
  • Provide professional and courteous customer service.
  • Assist patients with forms, referrals, and office procedures.
  • Verify insurance coverage and eligibility.
  • Obtain required authorizations and referrals.
  • Collect co-pays and patient balances.
  • Process daily cash receipts and payment reconciliation.
  • Support charge entry and reconciliation functions.
  • Manage patient documentation and medical records.
  • Coordinate referrals and specialty appointments.
  • Assist providers and office staff with administrative needs.
  • Maintain compliance with office procedures and patient confidentiality standards.

Patient Services Coordinator (Medical Front Desk)

Location: Columbia, MD

Schedule: Monday–Friday

  • 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM or 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire (4 Months)

Pay Rate: $15.00 - $20.00/hour (based on experience)

Work Environment: Onsite Medical Office

We are seeking an experienced and patient‑focused Patient Services Coordinator to join a busy and well‑established medical practice in Columbia, MD. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with medical front desk, patient registration, scheduling, or healthcare administrative experience who enjoys interacting with patients and supporting the daily operations of a healthcare office. The ideal candidate will serve as the first point of contact for patients and play a key role in creating a positive patient experience while ensuring the front office operates efficiently and accurately.

Key Responsibilities
Patient Registration & Scheduling
  • Register new and returning patients accurately within the EMR system
  • Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments

Front Desk & Patient Support

Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of 1‑2 years of medical office experience (front desk experience strongly preferred)
  • Experience with EMR/EHR systems
  • EPIC experience strongly preferred
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to multitask in a fast‑paced environment
