Job summary

SunState Medical Specialists is seeking a Patient Services Specialist to provide administrative support to staff, patients and physicians, ensuring high-quality, professional service and efficient operations.

This role links patients with clinical teams, handling patient scheduling, billing questions, records, and front-desk duties across Florida locations within OneOncology's community-based care network.

Qualifications

• Administrative experience in a busy, customer-focused environment, medical preferred.
• Handle and resolve urgent matters and time-critical medical appointments.
• Strong organization and communication skills, with the ability to liaise with both internal and external stakeholders.
• Knowledge of patient billing systems and related funding mechanisms.
• Ability to use clinical administration systems, as well as Microsoft Office software.
• Collaborative approach in working with the wider administration team and other internal customers.

Responsibilities

• Provide administrative support to staff, patients and physicians to ensure a high quality, professional and efficient service.
• Maintain a professional service that meets patient needs and anticipates their expectations.
• Monitor patient flow and direct as appropriate; answer calls promptly and address queries per privacy policy.
• Assist physicians and internal customers; respond to billing questions and help with referrals.
• Maintain waiting rooms and patient-facing spaces; manage documentation and patient records integrity.
• Register new patients accurately; schedule physician appointments and assist visits as needed.
• Admit/discharge patients around consultations, evaluations and follow-ups.
• Ensure completeness and accuracy of patient records before and after visits; follow up on referrals.
