Job summary

Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo, MI is seeking a Unit Clerk for a part-time role on the GMU. You will perform clerical and receptionist duties, coordinate communication systems, and help maintain unit operations for patient care teams.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, 1–3 months of related experience, and a basic competency in English, spelling, and medical terminology. Prior healthcare exposure is preferred and you will input data into hospital systems as part of daily

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required for those hired on or after 6/1/2017.
• 1-3 months related experience and/or training preferred.
• Previous healthcare experience preferred.
• Ability to successfully complete competency requirements for English, writing, spelling and reading comprehension.
• Working knowledge of medical terminology.
• Ability to input and retrieve data from the organization’s computerized systems.
• Organizational skills to maintain records and orderly filing systems and to manage multiple processes.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with patients, visitors, and all members of the care delivery team.

Responsibilities

• Perform clerical and receptionist functions for the unit.
• Coordinate unit communication systems (phones, nurse call, hospital information systems).
• Relate information and maintain optimal public relations on the nursing unit.
• Assist in maintaining supplies, equipment and unit environment.
• Input and retrieve data from computerized systems and maintain patient records.
• Support patient flow and flow of information within the unit.
• Attend to admission paperwork and related administrative tasks.
• Assist with transport, stocking, and basic unit duties as directed by RN.
