Job summary

Cape Fear Valley ENT in Fayetteville, NC is seeking a capable Clerical Specialist to ensure efficient patient flow, accurate billing submissions, and up-to-date medical records. You will register patients, schedule visits, collect payments, transcribe non-medical dictation, and enter ICD-10 and CPT-4 codes for charge capture.

The role requires strong English communication, typing speed, and organizational skills; prior medical office experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1 year clerical experience required.
• Medical office experience preferred.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English proficiently.
• Typing 45–55 wpm accurately.
• Good planning and organizational abilities.
• Tact and ability to deal with patients under stress.
• Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT-4 coding preferred.

Responsibilities

• Register patients expediently and collect accurate information; schedule appointments.
• Receive calls regarding appointments and determine provider, length, and type of visit; schedule accordingly.
• Collect payments from patients and document receipts; prepare cash reports at day’s end.
• Enter ICD-10 and CPT-4 coding into the data processing system daily.
• Transcribe non-medical dictation.
• Submit billing invoices to billing/collection daily under supervision.
• File, fax and/or mail reports and records; compile month-end reports.
• Assist in tracking supply inventory and notify when reorders are needed.
• Greet and direct patients as receptionist; support Guest Relations policy.
• Assist with non-invasive procedures or act as security observer as needed.
• Indirectly locate staff and direct emergency messages.
• Other duties as assigned.
