Job summary

The role requires a high school diploma, 6 months of medical front-office experience, and familiarity with EMR systems. Strong customer service and HIPAA compliance are essential. This on-site position may involve coverage across multiple UT Health RGV sites.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Six (6) months of medical front-office or receptionist experience or two (2) years of direct customer service experience required.
• Preferred: Completion of Medical Office Specialist certificate program or Medical Administrative Assistant or closely related.

Responsibilities

• Acts as the first point of contact for patients in the clinical setting and provides high-level customer service.
• Registers patients by obtaining demographic information and maintains confidentiality per HIPAA guidelines.
• Schedules, reschedules, and cancels appointments to maximize patient flow and clinic efficiency.
• Answers incoming calls professionally and relays accurate information.
• Performs time-of-service collections including copays and deductibles.
