Job Summary:
Greets patients, organizes patient files, and moves patients through a pre-determined schedule of appointments at a physician's office.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
- Welcomes patients and visitors to the medical office by greeting patients and visitors in person and on the telephone and answering inquiries or referring questions to other staff members
- Efficiently conducts check-in, check-out, and rescheduling procedures
- Verifies insurance coverage
- Collect copays and balances at time of appointment
- Answers, triages, and appropriately routes incoming calls
- Explains office policies, insurance coverage, and services available to patients
- Schedules appointments for the physicians and physician assistant to optimize patient satisfaction, provider time and most effective use of examining and treatment rooms. Prepares a daily schedule of examinations for each provider
- Accurately enters all patient demographic, billing, and insurance information in the Electronic Medical Record
- Receives, reviews, and distributes documentation to appropriate staff members in a timely manner
- Reviews patient schedule for following day and verifies all necessary paperwork is on file. Follows up with patients for any missing documentation
- Follows established protocols for opening and closing office
- Performs other duties as assigned
