Description

For a limited time, MaineHealth is offering a $3,000 sign-on payment for Patient Service Representatives! Eligible candidates are hired into a full or part-time Patient Service Representative position. Bonus amount prorated for part-time hires; per diem hires are ineligible. Current MaineHealth employees are ineligible; former employees are ineligible until more than 6 months of separation.

Summary

This position supports the incoming phone switchboard team in a high-volume cardiovascular practice. Along with two other positions, responsibilities include responding to incoming calls, understanding the reason for the call, and routing it appropriately. Ideal candidates will have experience in phone-based customer service. This role is eligible for remote work after successful training.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients politely and promptly.
• Schedule, reschedule, confirm, and cancel appointments.
• Update patient demographic and insurance information, and provide forms for completion.
• Answer calls pleasantly and assist callers when possible.
• Screen calls, document messages, and escalate as needed.
• Collect co-pays and balances, review forms, obtain signatures, and schedule follow-ups.
• Assist patients with activating and navigating the patient portal.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• High School diploma or GED preferred.
• Driver’s license may be required.
• Experience in a medical office and customer service preferred.
• Additional skills: Computer skills, effective cash collection skills preferred.
