Qualifications

• Interpersonal skills, including customer service experience and the ability to work cooperatively with patients, physicians, staff, and external parties
• Proficient typing and keyboarding skills
• Strong organizational skills and experience with office equipment, including computers and phones
• Basic understanding of CPT and ICD-10 coding procedures
• Able to act calmly and effectively in busy or stressful situations
• Able to multitask efficiently

Responsibilities

• Greeting and admitting patients in a friendly manner, and keeping them informed of their appointment status
• Scheduling appointment times for patients
• Maintaining forms to be given to, filled out for, or received from patients
• Receiving payments and co-payments, and recording patient charges for the billing department
• Delivering messages to the physician or the physician's staff
• Assisting with routine procedures encountered in the physicians' office
• Obtaining prior authorization for tests and surgical procedures
