Position Overview

The Department of Neurology is seeking a Patient Service Coordinator who will provide friendly, courteous, and confidential assistance to ensure a positive patient experience. Responsibilities include greeting patients, using EPIC for tasks such as check-in, check-out, scheduling, and pre-registration.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Screens and triages patient calls to appropriate resources.
  2. Schedules patients for tests, examinations, procedures, and admissions.
  3. Uses EPIC to access, update, and manage patient information.
  4. Coordinates visits within and across departments.
  5. Interviews patients/families to obtain pre-registration info and confirm appointments.
  6. Prepares and mails directions, maps, fee schedules, and department info.
  7. Verifies and enters demographic and insurance data into the system.
  8. Confirms appointments and manages cancellations and vacancies.
  9. Completes medical forms and responds to patient requests.
  10. Maximizes physician scheduling within resource limitations.
  11. Registers patients and assists with insurance forms.
  12. Answers phones and manages medical records requests.
  13. Handles medical records documentation and in-basket monitoring.
  14. Collects payments, issues receipts, and discusses charges with patients.
  15. Refers patients for financial counseling and assists with insurance queries.
  16. Supports back-office duties to maintain patient flow.
  17. Maintains office supplies and medical forms inventory.
  18. Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least one year of customer service experience.
  • Additional education or experience may substitute per JHU policies.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Two years of related experience.
