Job summary

OrthoArizona is seeking a Patient Scheduling Coordinator in Chandler, AZ. You will answer calls, verify insurance, collect patient data, and schedule appointments while following provider protocols.

You will create EMR notes with accurate terminology and update patient records for referrals and imaging. This role supports a fast-growing orthopedic practice with excellent benefits.

Qualifications

  • Deep understanding and knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Working knowledge of computer programs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Minimum qualification: High School diploma or GED.
  • Preferred: one year medical office experience.
  • Bilingual is a plus.
  • Basic knowledge of insurance plans and the specialty referral process.

Responsibilities

  • Answer phone in prompt, courteous manner and route calls as needed.
  • Collect patient data to ensure smooth scheduling.
  • Verify active insurance and update information as necessary.
  • Schedule appointments in line with provider protocols and patient needs.
  • Understand and apply up-to-date provider protocols.
  • Create patient notes in the EMR with correct medical terminology.
  • Research patient records for proper referrals and imaging documentation.
  • Meet individual quotas and team KPIs.
  • Expand knowledge of practice management software as updates occur.
  • Follow all Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

As a Patient Scheduling Coordinator with OrthoArizona, you will get to:
  • Answer phone in prompt, courteous and helpful manner, screen, and route calls if applicable.
  • Make sound decisions on how to best assist the patient based on their needs, presented questions, or issues.
  • Collect important patient data to ensure ease of scheduling.
  • Verify insurance is active, and update insurance information as needed prior to scheduling.
  • Schedule appointments accurately in conjunction with provider protocols and patient’s needs.
  • Have a deep understanding of the most up to date provider protocols and anticipate changes in protocols.
  • Create patient note in the EMR with the correct medical terminology associated with issues the patient presented.
  • Research and understand patient record for proper referral and/or imaging documentation, while answering related questions regarding patient charts.
  • Meet individual quotas and key performance indicators (KPIs), as well as assist in accomplishing team goals.
  • Continue to expand knowledge of practice management software as updates occur.
  • Follow all Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Understand/Perform training on practice management software.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • *Using state or federally regulated websites may require personal login credentials.
