Job summary

Sentara Health in Norfolk, VA seeks a qualified Safety Partner to maintain a safe hospital environment for patients at risk of suicide, falls, wandering, agitation or other behaviors. This on-site role is full-time (36 hours weekly) with a day shift from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital Emergency Department.

Ideal candidates have prior healthcare experience (or enrollment in health sciences), BLS within 90 days, and completed safety/de-escalation training soon after hire.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• BLS required within 90 days of hire.
• Prior healthcare experience preferred.
• De-escalation and physical intervention training within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assists with the provision of a safe hospital environment for patients at risk of suicide, falls, wandering, agitation, impulsiveness, self-harm or other risk behaviors.
• Supports patient safety and comfort during hospital stay.
• Assists with de-escalation and physical intervention as trained.
