Job summary

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital Emergency Department is seeking a part-time Safety Partner to support patient safety on the unit. You will monitor patients at risk of harm and assist staff in maintaining a secure environment during care.

The role emphasizes teamwork, attentive supervision, and adherence to hospital safety protocols to promote healing and comfort for patients and families.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Preferred: Prior healthcare experience or enrollment in health sciences program.

Responsibilities

• Sit with patients at risk of suicide, falls, wandering, self-harm, or other risk behaviors.
• Maintain a safe environment and support hospital staff in safety-related tasks.
• Collaborate with care teams to monitor and assist at-risk patients.
