Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is hiring a Patient Safety Observer to provide continuous safety observation and assist with activities of daily living as directed by nursing staff. You will monitor patient safety, document care, and engage with patients as needed to ensure well-being.

The role requires staying alert for extended periods, using verbal intervention to calm patients, and following hospital policies. This is a non-clinical support position within a dynamic health system in Central

Qualifications

• Experience in direct patient observation.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare setting.
• Excellent communication with nursing staff.

Responsibilities

• Observes one or more assigned patients for harmful, dangerous, or violent behaviors.
• Communicates with nursing staff to understand patient parameters before and during each assignment.
• Notifies nursing staff of changing or unusual conditions.
• Maintains an uninterrupted line of sight with the patient(s).
• Completes all documentation as required.
