Job summary

UMass Memorial Health in Central Massachusetts seeks a Patient Safety Observer to provide continuous safety observation of assigned patients, support activities of daily living, and assist with patient comfort under nursing direction.

You will document observations, stay close to patients, report issues promptly, and work in a float position across units as needed, maintaining patient dignity and coordinating with the care team.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• CPR certification within 6 months of hire.
• Preferred: previous healthcare experience.

Responsibilities

• Develops and maintains good human relations with patients and families.
• Observes for suicidal and/or violent behavior and ensures patient safety.
• Monitors visitors to prevent unsafe materials.
• Maintains 15-minute safety checks with documentation.
• Follows nurse directions and supports ancillary tasks as needed.
