Job summary

HCA Healthcare, Inc. is seeking a Patient Safety Attendant in Fredericksburg, VA to provide continuous observation for high-risk patients and maintain a safe environment. The role supports the patient care team and may assist with daily living activities, transportation, and procedures.

The PSA ensures patient safety, documents status accurately, and participates in improvement activities while adhering to fall prevention and infection control protocols.

Qualifications

• Nonviolent Crisis Intervention must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support, or CPR must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.

Responsibilities

• Maintains a direct line of sight with patient at all times.
• Accompanies patient and ensures safety during transportation, testing, and procedures.
• Establishes a safe environment using fall prevention and infection control measures; conducts room assessments.
• Creates clear, accurate documentation on patient status and activity during shifts.
• Performs other duties when not providing direct observation; assists nursing staff with tasks.
• Participates as an active health care team member and promotes teamwork with patients and families.
• Engages in hospital or department performance improvement activities.
• Restocks non-medicinal patient room supplies as needed.
