Qualifications

• High School diploma/GED or enrolled in Health Sciences program.
• 0 - 1 years of experience.
• Basic Life Support current certification required within 3 months of hire
• Completes Hospital approved de-escalation training during unit based orientation

Responsibilities

• Direct and continuous observation of patient at a distance no greater than arm’s length from patient.
• Participates in patient rounding as directed by the Registered Nurse.
• Ensures environmental safety for patient.
• Answers call lights and ensures patient care issues are directed to the Registered Nurse.
• Restocking department supplies and precautions stations.
• Transports patients within the department and to in-hospital locations as needed.
• Clean patient equipment following the designated process.
• Completes patient safety sitter competency and all required documentation for patient care.
• Communicates changes in patient behavior to the Registered Nurse.
• Participates in quality improvement studies and activities specific to the unit.

Education
